LIONS FALL TO KSU IN ASUN VOLLEYBALL OPENER

JACKSONVILLE  –  Kennesaw State hit .221 as a team and recorded eight blocks in a 3-0 victory over the University of North Alabama volleyball team Friday on the first day of the ASUN Crossover on the campus of Jacksonville State. With the 14-25, 23-25, 22-25 loss UNA falls to 6-8 on the season, including an 0-1 start to league play.
 
After struggling in the opening set, the Lions were competitive in the next two frames. UNA led 18-12 in the second set before the Owls rallied to get the win. KSU (7-5 overall, 1-0 ASUN) tied the match at 21 and later score three of the last four points to get the victory.
 
In the third set, a UNA rally came up short. After the Lions trailed throughout the game, a late 4-0 spurt tied the score at 21-21. The Owls, however, scored four of the next five points to get the win.
 
AK Griggs led the Lions with 10 kills. The junior from Arab hit .365 and added three blocks on the day. Breylee Linder added 20 assists while Tatum Fouche recorded 12 digs.
 
UNA will remain in Jacksonville to face Stetson on Saturday. Match time is set for noon at JSU's Pete Matthews Coliseum.
