FLORENCE – North Alabama overcame an eight-point deficit in the final minute of play only to watch Stetson get a basket as time expired in a 67-65 loss Saturday evening in ASUN Conference men's basketball action. The loss leaves UNA with an 8-11 overall record, including a 1-5 mark in league games.

Stetson led 63-58 after converting a three-point play with exactly 1:00 remaining. After a three-pointer by Daniel Ortiz cut the margin to five, the Hatters connected on 1-of-2 free throws to go ahead 64-58 with 41.2 seconds to play.

C.J. Brim then hit two free throws and UNA forced a 10-second turnover to get the ball back. Jamari Blackmon hit a step-back three-pointer to make the score 64-63 with 17.7 seconds remaining.

Stetson increased its lead to 65-63 after again hitting 1-of-2 foul shots. Blackmon then drove the lane for a basket to tie the game with 6.1 seconds to play. The Lions applied pressure on the ensuing inbounds, but Stephan Swenson found Christiaan Jones under the basket for the winning score as time expired.

The game featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes. UNA trailed 30-28 at the break, but led by as many as six in the second half. A three-point basket by Detalian Brown put the Lions ahead 41-35 with 14:20 remaining in the game.

Stetson responded with a 7-0 run to go ahead 42-41 and the two teams traded leads eight more times down the stretch.

A free throw by Damian Forrest at the 4:00 mark gave the Lions their last lead at 54-53. On its next four possessions, UNA had two turnovers and two missed shots, including the front end of a one-and-one as the Hatters built the eight-point advantage.

Blackmon finished with a season-high 24 points. Ortiz added 13 points on the night. Jones led Stetson (8-11 overall, 2-5 ASUN) with 16 points.
