FLORENCE – ASUN Conference pre-season favorite FGCU had three players reach double figures in kills in a 25-21, 25-18, 25-23 win over the University of North Alabama volleyball team Sunday afternoon at Flowers Hall. With the loss, UNA falls to 12-8 overall and 2-6 in ASUN play.

Led by two-time ASUN Player of the Year and 2022 Pre-season Player of the Year Erin Shomaker's match-high 18 kills, the Eagles improved to 6-0 all-time against UNA.

Mattrice Harris led the Lions, getting 11 kills and a block to go along with her .833 hitting percentage on the day. The senior from Opelika, moved into third place in the conference standings with a .360 clip on the season.

Maggie Sullivan also hit .474 and finished with nine kills while Taylor Floyd and Hayley Martin had eight kills each. Elif Ozsoy finished with 37 assists while Ella Ratzloff totaled 22 digs on the day. Defensively, Floyd also had 11 digs while Katie Gerig also turned in 10 digs for the Lions.

UNA will hit the road for its next two ASUN matchups. The Lions will play at Austin Peay on Oct. 21, followed by a match at Lipscomb the following day.
