LIONS SWEEP EKU FOR FIRST ASUN VICTORY

FLORENCE – Hayley Martin and Anna Katherine Griggs had 10 kills each and the University of North Alabama volleyball team hit .294 on the day in a 3-0 home sweep over Eastern Kentucky Sunday afternoon at Flowers Hall. The 25-22, 25-21, 25-20 win gives UNA an 11-5 overall record and 1-3 mark in ASUN Conference play.
 
Martin, a true freshman from Ilgin, Ill., hit a match-high .421 and added three blocks for the Lions. Mattrice Harris and Maggie Sullivan added seven kills each while Elif Ozsoy recorded 35 assists and 11 digs on the day. UNA libero Ella Ratzloff also led all players with 14 digs.
 
UNA recorded nine total team blocks for the match. Five different players contributed to the block party, led by Harris' match-high five blocks.
 
North Alabama travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for a pair of ASUN matches next weekend. The Lions will take on Jacksonville on Friday before playing at North Florida on Sunday.
