FLORENCE, Ala. -- University of North Alabama pitching held Eastern Kentucky to just five hits, but the Lions walked four batters and hit another that all eventually scored in UNA's 7-4 loss to the Colonels at Mike Lane Field.
With the loss, UNA is now 5-12 overall and 0-2 in ASUN Conference play. Eastern Kentucky is now 13-7 overall and 2-0 in the ASUN.
UNA took a brief lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Austin Thrasher doubled and scored on an RBI-double from
Jonathan Lane.
Eastern Kentucky then scored three runs in the top of the second inning as Will King was hit-by-pitch, Charlie Ludwick and Ron Franklin walked and all three eventually scored.
The Colonels added three more runs in the third on a single, a walked and a home run.
UNA got a run back in the bottom of the third inning when Thrasher singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Lane.
In the fifth,
Reid Homan singled and was driven in on another RBI-double by Lane to make it 6-3.
The Lions got another run closer in the bottom of the seventh with
Luke Harper doubled and scored on a double by Homan.
EKU got an insurance run in the ninth when Conner Davis walked, moved to second om a wild pitch, stole third and scored on a throwing error.
Brycen Parrish (1-2) took the loss for UNA, allowing three runs on one hit over an inning and two-thirds.
Jacob Bradshaw allowed three runs on four hits over six innings.
Austin Emener pitched the final inning and a third and allowed an unearned run while striking out four.
The Lions and Colonels play the final game of the series on Sunday at noon.
