LIONS DROP SERIES FINALE IN EXTRA INNINGS

FLORENCE, Ala. -- North Alabama scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game but Lipscomb scored three in the top of the tenth to take the final game of the ASUN Conference baseball series over the Lions, 10-7 at Mike Lane Field.

UNA and Lipscomb were tied at 2-2 in the seventh inning before North Alabama took a 4-2 lead. The Bisons then scored five in the top of the eight to take a 7-4 advantage. UNA then scored one in the eight and two in the ninth to force extra innings.

With the loss, UNA is now 8-25 overall and 2-13 in the ASUN. Lipscomb is now 21-15 overall and 10-5 in the ASUN.

Down 2-0 in the fourth inning, UNA tied the game when Luke Harper and Austin Thrasher got back-to-back singles and eventually scored. Harper scored on a ground out by Devne Daniel and Thrasher scored on an RBI-single by Reid Homan.

In the seventh, Harper and Thrasher again had back-to-back singles with two outs. Thrasher drove in Harper and then scored on a Daniel RBI-single to give UNA a 4-2 lead.

Down 7-4 in the eighth, UNA got a run when Drew Hudson walked and eventually scored on a sac fly by Zak Majer.

Then in the ninth, Lane singled, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch. Reid Homan then walked, stole two bases and also scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. The Lions left two other runners on base and stranded 11 runners in the game.

Will Morris (1-1) took the loss for the Lions. He allowed three runs on three hits over two innings of work. UNA starter Jacob James pitched seven complete innings, allowing four runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

The Lions host Murray State at Mike Lane Field on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
