ATLANTA, Ga. – The ASUN Conference has announced the honorees of the 2022-2023 Spring Winners for Life team today, with senior Mackenzie Martin (Hoover, Ala.) earning the nod as the representative from the University of North Alabama. The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the 12-member institutions and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
 
In the community, Martin has been a leader among her peers, totaling 39 hours for the 2022-2023 school year. She also holds the role of vice president for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serves on the executive council for Student Government Association, and won the Senator of the Year award. She will serve as the SAAC president for the upcoming school year.
 
Academically, Martin has been recognized with the Turris Fidelis Award, which is the highest honor conferred to a graduating senior for outstanding service and scholastic achievement as chosen by a committee of faculty, staff, and students. She has also won the Distinguished Academic Achievement award, along with being named to the 2023 ASUN Conference All-Academic Beach Volleyball team and 2023 College Sports Communicators Women's Academic All-District At-Large team.
 
A four-year member in the program, Martin's 59 career wins are second best in school history, and she has played in 98 career matches with the Lions. The three-time team captain also set the single season record for wins in a season.
 
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN-sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
