FLORENCE, Ala. (September 15, 2023) – North Alabama Director of Tennis Olaya Garrido-Rivas and Assistant Coach Aitor Reparaz have announced the 2023 Fall Men's Tennis schedule this month. The slate will consist of four invitationals, one dual meet and two events in conjunction with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Reparaz will head the men's team in his second season with the Lions, helping guide the Lions to 10 wins in 2022-23 with a second-round appearance in the ASUN Tournament.
"We have five high-level tournaments this fall that will help us to see where we are at, and I'm excited to see them compete," says Reparaz.
ABOUT THE SCHEDULE
The fall season begins today, as the Lions make the trip to Jacksonville, Ala. for the Jax State Invite from Sept. 15 - 17. UNA will compete in two competitions simultaneously on Sept. 29-Oct. 1 as the Lions will send two players to the ITA All-American Qualifiers and five to the Samford Hidden Dual in Birmingham, Ala. The ITA Southern Regionals follows on Oct. 12 -17 in Auburn, Ala.
The UTC Steve Baras Invitational and the CCB Collegiate Invitational will take place on Oct. 27-29, sending four players to Chattanooga, Tenn. and three to Birmingham, Ala. before wrapping up the fall season with the North Alabama Invitational on Nov. 3-5 in Florence, Ala.
"We have a very young team with four freshman, two sophomores and one junior, said Reparaz. "This first month has been all about adjusting to change and getting to know each other. So far, I would highlight the talent and passion the freshmen are adding to the team. I am also happy how the three returners are leading and helping to build the strong culture we want to establish."
