NOTES
SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama is 8-12 on the season and 4-3 in ASUN play, ranking seventh in the conference. UNA continues to hold the third spot in the ASUN with 71.7 points per game. UNA also ranks among the top three ASUN teams in the following categories: free throw percentage (74.3 percent/first), three-point percentage (32.9 percent/first), three-pointers per game (8.5 per game/second), bench points per game (22.2/second), team assists (14.9 per game/second) and team field goal percentage (42.8 percent/third).
SCOUTING THE OSPREYS: North Florida enters with a 7-13 overall record and a 1-5 ASUN record. The Ospreys are an even 5-5 at home, but 2-7 on the road and 0-1 in neutral site play. North Florida is a threat from behind the three-point line with the Ospreys ranking third behind UNA in three-pointers made per game (8.3). The leading scorer is redshirt senior guard Lyric Swann with 11 PPG, and the head coach of the Ospreys is Erika Lambert in her first year.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and North Florida have played ten times with five wins apiece. UNA has a 4-3 record when playing the Ospreys at home. The last two games have gone the way of the Lions, winning 70-65 on Feb. 5, 2022 and 74-51 on Feb. 25, 2023. This will mark third straight game in the series to occur in Florence.
TWO FOR TWEEDY: Freshman guard Veronaye Charlton earned her second Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, Jan. 29 and her first since Nov. 27. In two wins against Kennesaw State and Queens last week, Charlton started both games and averaged 13.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds and five assists while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. She had near double-double against the Owls, finishing with 14 points and career-high nine rebounds before a 13-point, five-rebound, four-assist outing against the Royals.
1K MAGIC: Senior Alexis Callins became the first UNA player to score 1,000 career points in the Division I era against Kennesaw State on Jan. 24. A four-year mainstay, she also becomes the 18th player in all of UNA Women's Basketball history to achieve this milestone. The all-time leader in scoring at UNA is Ivy Wallen, who scored 1,762 points over four seasons — two at the Division II level and two at the Division I level.
NO PRESSURE: The Lions lead the ASUN in free-throw percentage and rank No. 76 in the nation at 74.3 percent. Leading by a 3.5 percent margin, only three other ASUN teams — Central Arkansas, EKU and Jacksonville — are above 70 percent at the line.
CALLINS CAN SCORE (A LOT): Callins' 15.6 PPG ranks fourth in the ASUN and is on pace for a new Division I-era record at UNA for individual season scoring average. Callins leads the ASUN with 3.05 three pointers per game with 61 makes. Callins' three-point game is nationally ranked, with the senior 8th in total makes and 12th in makes per game.
CHARLTON KEEPS IT COOL: Charlton brings energy whenever she touches the court, but her calling card is remaining cool, calm and collected from the charity stripe. She checks in at 84.3 percent from the line, second in the ASUN and ranking 53rd nationally.
DROPPING DIMES: Senior guard Sara Wohlgemuth is in the ASUN lead and ranks 46th nationally with 5.1 assists per game. Her 101 assists lead the ASUN, as well, with a 44th national ranking. She is also second in the ASUN with a 1.63 assist/turnover ratio.
