FLORENCE, Ala. (November 27, 2024) – Once a month, the University of North Alabama Department of Athletics features local student-athletes with ties to the Shoals area with the monthly "Homegrown Series" presented by First Southern Bank.
 
This edition features men's basketball junior center Mitchell Chaffee.
 
Chaffee is a local product from Muscle Shoals High School, where he led the Trojans in scoring and rebounding as a senior in 2022. From there, Chaffee became the first signee for Calhoun's men's basketball program in 21 years as the program returned to the court in 2022.
 
While with the Warhawks, Chaffee played in 57 career games. He averaged 5.1 points per game as a true freshman, then upped to 6.9 PPG as a 46 percent shooter as a sophomore. This led to his signing at UNA as a junior, where he made his Lion debut last Wednesday against Dalton State.
