GADSDEN, Ala. (March 12, 2024) – Allycia Gan finished up the Chris Banister Golf Classic on Tuesday in Gadsden, Ala. tied for fifth, marking her fifth consecutive top ten tournament finish. Gan helped the UNA women's golf jump one spot into fourth place to complete the final round.
After entering the round in fifth place, UNA turned in a third round card of 299, the second-best round of the day, trailing just tournament champion Chattanooga at 296. The Lions wrapped up the tournament with a 918 total. Behind team medalists Chattanooga, host Jacksonville State jumped into second while Illinois State placed third. The Lions edged out Northern Colorado for the four spot while Queens, Stonehill and South Alabama rounded out the rest of the teams.
Gan began the round in 10th before jumping up to fifth place after a third round 71, her best round of the tournament. After rounding out the front nine at a three-over-par 39, Gan ripped three straight birdies to begin the back nine and tallied another on the 16th hole to finish the back nine at a four-under-par 32. Gan tabbed eight birdies on the tournament, with five coming on the final day.
Hannah Dees and
Jahnavi Prakhya both wrapped up the tournament tied for 15th with 232 totals. Prakhya jumped seven spots from 22nd place after punching birdies on holes 7, 13 and 15. Senior
Tori Roush followed up the pair, tying for 19th after tabbing her best round of the tournament with a 74 on Tuesday, bringing her total to 233. Roush notched an eagle on hole 13, one of just two eagles across the entire tournament.
Redshirt-freshman
Kerigan Klauber led the team with 10 birdies, the fourth-most of any individual in the tournament. Klauber tied for 28th after posting a three-round 240. The Lions finished the tournament with 33 birdies, one shy of Chattanooga for the most in the tournament.
UNA travels to Gulf Shores, Ala. to participate in the Bama Beach Bash hosted by UAB on March 17-19.
