PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (March 21, 2024) –  The University of North Alabama women's golf team heads to Panama City Beach, Fla. this weekend to play in the Lady Bison Classic hosted by Lipscomb at the Bay Point Golf Club. The field features 11 teams, including ASUN opponents Austin Peay and Lipscomb. 
 
The event features three 18-hole rounds that run from March 22-24.

NOTES

Lady Bison Classic: UNA participates in the Lady Bison Classic hosted by Lipscomb for the fourth consecutive season. North Alabama placed third in last year's edition of the tournament, led by Allycia Gan who placed fifth. The 11-team field this year is highlighted by Austin Peay, Lipscomb, UNC Asheville, Yale and Harvard, among others. 
 
Bama Beach Bash Recap: Jahnavi Prakhya tied for fifth and helped UNA finish in the top half of teams at the Bama Beach Bash hosted by UAB. UNA places seventh of 17 teams in Gulf Shores in the shortened tournament. Allycia Gan tied for 27th place while Kerigan Klauber tied for 35th. Hannah Dees and Tori Roush each tied for 50th out of 100 individual golfers.
 
Prakhya Impresses: Prakhya turned in a 146 two-round total to tie for sixth place. The sixth place finish is her best finish since tying for fifth place in the APSU Intercollegiate on Sept. 26. Prakhya has now placed in the top 10 three times this season. 
 
Postseason in Sight: This year's ASUN Women's Golf Championship takes place at RTJ Hampton Cove in Owens Crossroads, Ala. on April 14-16. All 12 ASUN teams will participate in the tournament for a chance at an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. UNA participated in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate hosted by Samford at RTJ Hampton Cove earlier this season.
 
Unfamiliar Territory: UNA travels to Panama City Beach, Fla. for the Lady Bison Classic. This is the first time the Lions have to leave the state of Alabama for a tournament since the fall season. UNA wrapped up the fall campaign with The Judson in Hattiesburg, Miss.
 
Spring Cleaning: Following the Lady Bison Classic the Lions have just one more tournament before moving on to postseason. UNA travels to Macon, Ga. for the Brickyard Collegiate hosted by Mercer to round out the regular season before returning to Alabama to play in the ASUN Women's Golf Championship.
