ST. GEORGE, Utah (October 31, 2025) – The University of North Alabama football team will be spending Halloween night in the desert lands of Southern Utah, as the Lions prepare for a road bout at Utah Tech this Saturday at 3 p.m. CT in St. George, Utah.
This game will start the second half of conference play and will mark the first of four games in the month of November.
This will mark the third time UNA and Utah Tech will square off as United Athletic Conference opponents — but also, perhaps the final time. UNA will move all sports to the UAC in 2026, while Utah Tech will join the Big Sky in 2026 as a full member.

NOTABLES
ABOUT THE LIONS: North Alabama brings a 2-6 record into Saturday's game and is on the hunt for its first road win of the season. The Lions have been a run-heavy team this season, ranking 27th in FCS and fourth in the United Athletic Conference with 191.4 yards per game. However, UNA threw for a season-high 330 passing yards last week in a loss at Austin Peay. UNA is also moving the sticks, ranking 18th in FCS and tied for second in the league behind Tarleton State with 178 first downs. UNA also went 11-for-20 on third down conversions last week.
ABOUT THE TRAILBLAZERS: Utah Tech has played the second-toughest schedule in FCS according to the Massey Ratings, bringing a 1-7 record into Saturday's game with North Alabama. The record could be deceiving, as Utah Tech fell in one-possession games to No. 8 UC Davis and No. 19 Northern Arizona. The lone win came against Northern Iowa. UT will look to snap a four-game losing skid with an 0-4 record in league play. The losses came to nationally-ranked Austin Peay and Tarleton State, as well as Central Arkansas and in-state rival Southern Utah.
SERIES HISTORY: Saturday will mark the third meeting between the two teams. The Lions won both meetings in 2023 and 2024 at Braly Stadium in Florence. The first meeting was a tight one, as the Lions held on for a 31-30 victory on a stopped two-point conversion in the final minute.
Gregory Reddick, a former safety with the Lions, had the game-saving pass breakup. The second meeting was not so close, as the Lions cruised to a 60-14 win last season.
RECORDS SET IN LAST MEETING: In last season's 60-14 victory over Utah Tech, the Lions posted their eighth-highest single game scoring total in program history and the highest since moving up to FCS in 2018. Other FCS era school records set in that game include largest win margin (46) and most first half points (39). The win margin remains the largest since defeating West Florida 51-3 in 2016.
NOT SO QUICK TRIP: The Lions embark on their longest trip of the season this weekend, as Florence and St. George are separated by roughly 1,686 miles. This would equate to 26 hours of drive time. However, UNA will be flying. Later this season, Utah Tech will take its longest trip with a 1,877 mile travel to Carrollton, Ga. to face West Georgia.
STILL TIPPIN' ON 44: Junior captain
Jyheam Ingram has made his presence felt since his freshman season in 2023, but perhaps his brightest shining moment came last season against Utah Tech with a 40-yard scoop-and-score touchdown. This marked the first fumble return for a touchdown at UNA since Wil Evans in 2021. Ingram has 17 tackles this season, including two for loss, with a pass breakup, a forced fumble, a recovery, two hurries and a blocked field goal. Last week against Austin Peay, he scooped up a fumble in a key moment in the fourth quarter.
GREGG GETS GOING: Redshirt freshman
Noah Gregg has been tough to keep out of the end zone for opponents, scoring in four of the last six games. He was recently named UAC Freshman of the Week for his performance against EKU in a Homecoming win and then posted a 100-yard receiving game last week against Austin Peay. He has five grabs for 106 yards, including a 67-yard catch on a free play to set up a red zone touchdown.
FRESHLY SQUEEZED: Redshirt senior
Jayvian Allen leads the Lions with 90 carries for 519 yards and seven touchdowns. The captain — also known as "Juice" — has racked up at least 100 all-purpose yards in three of the last four games. He was named UAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20 after rushing 13 times for 98 yards and three touchdowns against EKU in a 35-14 win.
WADE IS THE MAN: Redshirt sophomore
Destin Wade has been the team's starting quarterback for the last two games. He went 26-for-49 passing with 330 yards, two scores and three interceptions last week at Austin Peay, while going 11-for-18 for 127 yards to go with 21 carries for 109 yards against EKU in his first career win as a starter. He is the team's second-leading rusher with 78 carries for 338 yards and a touchdown.
HONKY TONK IN THE END ZONE: UNA has connected with a tight end for a touchdown in each of the last two games, including senior
Kaleb Heatherly against EKU and redshirt sophomore
Amarie Rogers last week against Austin Peay.
DEFENSIVE DIME: Senior
Demarcious Robinson is the team's leading tackler with 67 stops this season. Impressively, 40 of his stops have been solo, including nine solo tackles last week at Austin Peay. He has twice as many solo tackles as any other UNA player this season. In addition, he has 7.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. Robinson has also been a turnover catalyst with an interception, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble this season.
BIG BOOT WATFORD: The Lions are one of the top teams in net punting this season thanks in large part to
Adam Watford. The junior ranks eighth individually and atop the UAC with 45.9 yards per punt. Watford has landed at least one punt of 49 or more yards in every game this season. This includes an FCS school record 74 yard punt against Central Arkansas. The 74 yard punt is the second-longest in school history and longest since 1991.
WATCH OUT FOR VACHON: Redshirt junior
Ian Vachon was named to the Fred Mitchell Award Midseason Watch List this month. The Fred Mitchell Award recognizes placekickers for their excellence on the field and in the community. The recipient of the Fred Mitchell Award will be announced in December. Vachon is one of 19 FCS kickers on the list. Over eight games, Vachon is 7-10 on field goal attempts with a long of 55 yards, setting a new school record.
BAND OF BROTHERS: Christian Burkhalter and
Bishop Burkhalter are one of the few sibling sets in FCS football. Against Central Arkansas, the Burkhalter brothers were both credited with a tackle on the same play. There are no other FCS teams to record stats on the same play so far this season.
UAC ROUNDUP: Eight UAC teams will play on Saturday while West Georgia will sit this week out with a trip to North Alabama looming next week. Two of the four UAC games this week are in Utah, as the Lions play Utah Tech at 3 p.m. CT. Southern Utah will host the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. CT against No. 22 Austin Peay. A Texas-sized showdown between No. 2 Tarleton State and No. 24 Abilene Christian will take place at 3 p.m. in Abilene. The final game is between EKU and Central Arkansas at 4 p.m. in Conway, Ark.
UNA FOOTBALL NIGHT CHANGING DAYS NEXT WEEK: Fans are reminded to head over to Lost Pizza in downtown Florence for the UNA Football Hour with Coach
Brent Dearmon. Due to conflicts, this week's show will move to Tuesday, Nov. 4. The show begins at 7 p.m. and will air on 93.9 The Score and on all
Roar Lions Productions outlets. The show will also air live inside Lost Pizza hosted by "Voice of the Lions"
Benjamin Ray and
Mike Ezekiel.
