JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (December 8, 2025) – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced weekly awards for the week of Dec. 1-7 on Monday, naming University of North Alabama senior forward
Donte Bacchus as the ASUN Player of the Week.
Bacchus led North Alabama to a pair of marquee road wins last week, including a 73-66 win over in-state rival Jacksonville State last Monday and a 65-63 win two days later at San Francisco. He averaged 19.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game in the wins.
This is the first career weekly honor for Bacchus, who joined the Lions from Snead State Community College last season. Bacchus is the second player to win the award from UNA this season, joining redshirt junior
Corneilous Williams who won on Nov. 17.
Bacchus is one of five Lions to win a weekly award from the ASUN in the last two seasons. UNA owns claim to 11 weekly awards over the last two seasons.
For the week, Bacchus scored 39 points with 14 rebounds. He shoot 16-28 from the field — going 8-14 in both wins — to finish 57.1 percent. He also impacted the game defensively with three steals, a block and only one turnover over the two games.
At Jax State, Bacchus led with 19 points and nine rebounds for a near double-double. He made the go-ahead layup with 2:53 remaining to put UNA ahead for good. Two days later at San Francisco, Bacchus scored a season-high 20 points with five boards and three steals.
Bacchus and the Lions have the week off and return to action next Monday, Dec. 15 at Alabama A&M. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Huntsville.
