CARROLLTON, Ga. (February 14, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team caps its four-game road slate Saturday afternoon, traveling to Carrollton, Ga. to face the West Georgia Wolves at 1 p.m. CT.
The second meeting of the season between the former Gulf South Conference foes, North Alabama concludes its stretch of away games with the finale at West Georgia. Saturday will mark UNA's first trip to Carrollton since the 2017-18 season.
North Alabama opened February with an 82-73 home win over West Georgia before starting the four-game road trip with a win at North Florida. The Lions look to overcome a two-game skid with losses to Jacksonville and Central Arkansas.

LAST TIME OUT: North Alabama suffered a 73-52 road defeat on Wednesday at the hands of the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears in Conway, Ark. The matchup marked the first of two meetings this season, with sophomore Katie Criswell and junior India Howard leading in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: The first meeting against West Georgia this season saw the Lions score 82 points against the Wolves. North Alabama is a perfect 4-0 against teams when scoring over 80 points and an additional 1-0 when scoring over 90 points. UNA looks to pick up its first road win scoring over 80 points since Bellarmine on January 2. Additionally, North Alabama has led in scoring for the most crucial part of the game: the fourth quarter. Throughout the 13 ASUN contests, the Lions are outscoring opponents 249-234 for a plus +15 margin.
SCOUTING WEST GEORGIA: The Wolves enter the contest 10-14 overall and 4-9 in league play. West Georgia are in the midst of a two-game win streak and have split its last six contests, 3-3. Last time out, the Wolves opened the week with its fourth win in ASUN play, defeating Austin Peay at home, 70-57. West Georgia looks to extend its current win streak to three games and goes for its first win over UNA since the 2017 Gulf South Conference Tournament.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and West Georgia play for the second time this season after meeting earlier this year for the first time since the 2017-18 season. The 75th all-time matchup, UNA leads the series, 40-34, with the Lions taking the last meeting on Feb. 1. in CB&S Bank Arena. North Alabama also won the last meeting played in Carrollton, beating the Wolves, 74-63, on Jan. 13, 2018 in the Division II era.
LEADERBOARD LIONS: North Alabama is among the top ASUN teams in three-point field-goal percentage and blocked shots. UNA ranks first in three-point percentage (34.5 percent) while third in blocked shots, averaging 3.08 per game.
BOUND FOR REBOUNDS: The Lions are second in the Atlantic Sun Conference in total rebounds, averaging 39.4 per game. North Alabama is also third in both defensive rebounds (27.5 per game) and rebounding margin (+4.2). UNA's effort on the glass defensively ranks just outside the top 50 teams nationally, ranking 52nd in defensive rebounds. India Howard (6.9 per game), Jazzy Klinge (6.0) and Alyssa Clutter (5.3) all rank in the top 25 in ASUN rebounding.
THE SECOND UNIT: The Lions enter the week as one of the best teams in scoring from the second unit. North Alabama is ranked first in the conference in bench points per game, averaging 25.4 across 24 games. UNA is also ranked outside the top 25 in the NCAA, ranking 28th nationally in bench scoring.
THE BLOCK LIST: Three Lions rank among the top ASUN shot blockers in India Howard, Cameron Jones and Jazzy Klinge. Howard (1.4 per game) is third in the league, with Jones tied for ninth (0.7) and Klinge (0.5) tied for 19th.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: North Alabama has had two players finish with double-doubles on the season in Howard and Clutter. Howard has four on the season, recently adding two more against Stetson and North Florida. The junior averaged 10 points and 14 rebounds in the two games against the Hatters and Ospreys. Clutter has two on the season with a 14-point, 11-rebound outing at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and 17 points and 17 rebounds at Bellarmine.
CHARITY'S CASE: Charity Gallegos leads North Alabama in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game to rank seventh in the ASUN. Gallegos has also been the primary playmaker for the Lions, averaging the fourth-most assists in the ASUN with 4.0 per game. She was named the ASUN Conference's Player and Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 30, 2024 after a 25-7-7 stat line against Bethel. Gallegos earned her 1,500th career point in the Lions' home win versus Queens on Jan. 30.
HOWARD HOLDS IT DOWN: India Howard has had a knack for blocking shots, enforcing her defensive presence with 33 blocks in 23 games. She's currently third in the ASUN in the category with 1.4 blocks per game. Howard is also just inside the top 10 in rebounds in the conference, ranking 10th with 6.9 per game.
SUPER CAM: Cameron Jones is having a career year in her third season, with the Broadview Heights, Ohio native averaging a career-high 7.4 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game. Jones has set multiple single-game career highs on the season, including a 17-point performance against Denver and nine rebounds against both Nebraska and Bellarmine.
