NOTES
ABOUT LAST GAME: North Alabama Soccer took its first-ever win over Eastern Kentucky with a 1-0 shutout at EKU Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Senior captain
Charlotte Sobotka scored the 31st minute game-winner to secure three points for North Alabama on the road. Previously, the Lions held a 0-3-4 record against EKU in the all-time series entering this game in Richmond. Eastern Kentucky was held scoreless through 90 minutes thanks to the Lion defense and UAC Goalkeeper of the Week,
Emily Dorfman. The keeper wiped away all four shots on target with the Lion defense forcing the other seven shots off frame. Sobotka scored her third career game-winning goal since joining the Lions ahead of the 2025 season.
TIED ALL-TIME: After the 1-0 win over Eastern Kentucky,
Chris Walker owns 111 total wins under his belt for his 14-year head coaching career. Walker needs just one win to become the all-time winningest coach in program history, surpassing Graham Winkworth for the most wins by a head coach. Winkworth coached at North Alabama from 2003-2012 and won 111 games during that span.
SERIES HISTORY: This is the ninth all-time meeting between the Lions and the Govs dating back to 2007. They met once during the NCAA Division II era and since 2021 have competed eight other times. This season, North Alabama netted two goals in the first 10 minutes of action against Austin Peay in Clarksville. Former Gov
Alana Owens and her UNA teammate
Meg Welsh both scored for the Lions. North Alabama let up one goal to Austin Peay in the 55th minute but cruised to the win behind the defense closing out the rest of the game. This was the third consecutive 2-1 victory over Austin Peay.
SCOUTING THE GOVS: Austin Peay enters this matchup with a conference record of 1-6-1. Leading the Govs is senior defender Anna Drexel, who has netted three goals this season, while freshman defender Makai King leads the Govs with two assists. Austin Peay currently sits at third place in the United Athletic Conference Blue Division with four points and has yet to clinch a spot in the conference playoffs beginning Sunday, Nov. 8.
CLINCHED: North Alabama has officially secured a spot in the first-ever United Athletic Conference soccer postseason tournament after the 1-0 win over EKU on Sunday. The Lions make the inaugural UAC postseason tournament after enjoying years of success in the Atlantic Sun Conference postseason. North Alabama made an ASUN championship appearance twice in both 2018 and 2023. The Lions made the first round of the ASUN tournament in both 2020 and 2025. The Lions, as it stands, hold the No. 2 seed for the Blue Division, which would slate them against the Red Division's No. 3 seed currently held by Central Arkansas.
NEXT GAME: The Lions host West Georgia at Bank Independent Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day and their final regular-season game.
