BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (February 24, 2026) – The University of North Alabama baseball team dropped a midweek matchup against Samford in Birmingham on Tuesday, 6-5.
This ended the Lions' four game winning streak that stretched back to a run rule win over Murray State last Wednesday, Feb. 18.
North Alabama (6-3) had third baseman Dylan Coleman average .600 from the plate with two home runs, a double and four RBIs.
Samford (3-5) delivered 13 strikeouts for the game, giving UNA a new season high at the plate. The Bulldogs delivered two runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the go-ahead lead.
Outside of Coleman, Petey Craska, Wes Walker and Jackson Westmoreland created the other five hits; the shortstop, Westmoreland, went 2-for-3 on the afternoon.
North Alabama used eight pitchers in the midweek matchup with Jake Boyar receiving his second start and delivering four strikeouts in his two innings of work. Gavin Oswald received his first loss of the season while allowing his first runs of the year, which happened to be the go-ahead scores for Samford.
