FLORENCE, Ala. (August 23, 2026) – University of North Alabama women's golf head coach Neil Self announced the program's schedule for this upcoming season on Sunday, as the Lions are scheduled for 12 tournaments over the fall and spring semesters.
The season begins Sept. 14-15 in Paducah, Ky. at the Velvet Classic hosted by Murray State. The Lions will play in five fall tournaments and seven in the spring.
UNA enters its ninth season as a women's golf program — all of which has been coached by Self. For the first eight seasons, UNA was a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, but now, the Lions will play its first season as a member of the United Athletic Conference.
The UAC Championship is scheduled for April 23-25 in Celina, Texas. This season, the Lions will compete with former ASUN colleagues Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky and West Georgia, as well as former WAC schools UT Arlington, Abilene Christian and Tarleton State, as well as former OVC member Little Rock.
NCAA Regional are set for May 10-12 and the NCAA Championship is set for May 21-26 in California.
"We can't wait to get started," said Self. "This year's schedule should be a great test. Looking forward to coaching the newcomers and seeing how they mix with a talented group of returners. We should see some really good team golf this year, and I think it's the type of team that can progress a great deal from last year."
The 2026-27 roster includes four of the top five golfers from last season, led by fifth-year senior Kerigan Klauber. Klauber turned in two of the lowest rounds in program history last season with a 68 this past spring in Huntsville and a 69 last fall in Arkansas. She is the only three-time CSC Academic All-District selection in program history and will look to add a fourth in 2027.
Other returners include senior Ava Schwartz, junior Olivia Whittle and sophomore Kiersten Riggins. Schwartz enters her second season with the program after transferring from UAB and led all UNA players in the spring with a 76.8 stroke average.
The Lions bring in three freshmen this season, including local product Annalee Regan from Muscle Shoals. Regan became the youngest female to make a state championship at MSHS and is a five-time TimesDaily Girls Golfer of the Year. Her father (Jason), brother (Thomas) and uncle (Justin) all played on the men's golf team at UNA.
The other two freshmen are Ella Busby and Celia Martinez Garcia. Busby comes to UNA from Summertown, Tenn. where she was a standout at nearby Summertown High School and led the program to three state championships — including three top 10 finishes and one in the top five. Martinez Garcia comes from Oviedo, Spain and won multiple U16 championships in Europe.
