RIVERSIDE, Calif. (September 3, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's soccer team suffered the first loss of the 2026 season to Cal Baptist on Thursday night, 3-0 in Riverside, Calif.
North Alabama (3-1-1) put plenty of pressure on the Lancers defense, as the Lions lived on CBU's side of the pitch. UNA put seven shots up with three on target in the late night contest in California.
This is the first time the Lions have been held scoreless in a matchup this season.
Cal Baptist (4-0-1) earned the team's fifth-straight clean sheet of the season as the Lancers used all three keepers to hold the Lions scoreless. CBU was held scoreless through 45 minutes of action before it nailed a penalty kick in the 68th minute after a Lion handball.
The Lancers added two insurance goals in the final 10 minutes to solidify the match.
This was the first matchup in program history with a California-based team and the first time the Lions traveled to California to play.
Emily Dorfman had seven saves, a season high as she faced 11 shots on target.
Twenty-one Lions found playing time in this one as Dorfman and Lilly Ford were the lone pair to play the entire match. Langley Wallace had a season high 22-minutes for the contest while four freshmen made their way onto the pitch.
The Lions travel to La Jolla, Calif. next to compete against UC San Diego at Triton Soccer Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.
