MEMPHIS, Tenn., – Christian Brothers had three players score at least 20 points in a 99-88 win over North Alabama Thursday in Gulf South Conference men's basketball action. The host Bucs connected on 16 three-point baskets on the night as UNA fell to 10-11 overall and 5-9 in GSC play.

Despite the sharp shooting by the home team, a 20-point first-half deficit and three technical fouls, the Lions remained within striking distance until the closing seconds.

UNA trailed 48-34 at the break and faced an 18-point deficit early in the second half. The Lions, however, chipped away at the lead over the final 20 minutes of play.

After cutting the lead to seven three times in the final two minutes, UNA could get no closer. CBU was 29-of-40 from the free throw line, including 10-of-11 in the final minute of play.

Five players reached double figures for North Alabama, including 16 points each from Kendarius Smith, Tavaras Tolliver and Kendall Stafford. Jeff Hodge added 15 points while Adrian Smith rounded out the top scorers for the Lions with 10 points.

Jeff Larkin led Christian Brothers (16-6 overall, 8-6 GSC) with 26 points.

UNA will play at Union on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. on the UU campus in Jackson, Tenn.
