KENNESAW STATE RALLIES PAST UNA WOMEN IN OVERTIME

KENNESAW, Ga., – Kennesaw State overcame an eight-point deficit in the final 18.1 seconds of regulation to tie the game, then outscored North Alabama 10-8 in overtime to stun the Lions 74-72 Tuesday evening in ASUN Conference women's basketball action. With the loss, UNA drops consecutive games for the first time this season to fall to 17-5 on the year. The Lions also fall to third place in the ASUN standings with an 8-4 league record.

North Alabama appeared to be in control after Kenysha Coulson connected on two free throws to give the Lions a 61-53 lead with 18.1 seconds to play. The Owls, however, began the improbable rally with a five-point swing on the ensuing possession.

After drawing an unsportsmanlike foul against the Lions, Amani Johnson connected on two free throws with 14.8 seconds remaining. The foul gave KSU possession after the foul shots and ASUN leading scorer Kamiyah Street hit a three-point basket to pull the Owls to within three.

After Emma Wallen hit two free throws to give UNA a 63-58 lead, Johnson connected from long range to make the score 63-61 with six seconds on the clock. KSU fouled to send Brittany Panetti to the line. The junior hit 1-of-2 free throws to give the Lions a 64-61 lead with 5.1 seconds left. Street, however, banked in a trey from the top of the key to tie the game at the buzzer.

Kennesaw State took its first lead of the game with a pair of free throws at the 3:32 mark in the extra period. A basket by Coulson on the ensuing UNA possession tied the game at 66-66, but the Owls quickly regained the lead and never relinquished it down the stretch.

The Lions were 1-for-5 from the floor in the final minute of overtime, but still had a chance in the closing seconds. After a basket by Panetti made the score 74-72 with 13.9 seconds left, UNA forced a turnover on the inbounds pass.

Wallen's three-point attempt, however, was off the mark, and Ansley Eubank had a shot blocked after grabbing an offensive rebound as time expired.

All five starters reached double figures for UNA, which has now lost two straight and three of its last four games. Wallen led the way with 16 points. Ivy Wallen added 15 points while Eubank and Panetti each finished with 14 points on the night. Coulson rounded out the top scorers for the Lions with 11 points.

Street led Kennesaw State (11-14 overall, 7-5 ASUN) with a game-high 29 points.

UNA will play at the ASUN's second-place Stetson on Saturday. Tip-off is set for noon (Central) on the SU campus in DeLand, Fla.
