MIDDLE TENNESSEE RALLIES FOR 3-1 OVER LION VOLLEYBALL

MURFREESBORO, Tenn., – After dropping the opening set, Middle Tennessee posted three straight wins to rally for a 15-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19 home victory over the University of North Alabama volleyball team on Thursday. The 3-1 loss gives UNA a 1-11 record on the season.
 
The Lions started fast in the opening set. A block by Anna Katherine Griggs and Freya Collier gave UNA an early 8-4 advantage. Griggs added a kill on set point to give the Lions the early lead.
 
Following a .278 hitting percentage in the first set, UNA struggled at the net from there. In the second frame, the Lions trailed 21-20 after a kills by Kamryn Parsonage. The Blue Raiders, however, scored four straight points to even the match.
 
Another late run gave Middle Tennessee the victory in the third set. The home team led 19-17 before getting three straight kills to grab a 22-17 lead. A kill by Griggs cut the deficit to four points, but the home team closed the game with another 3-0 run.
 
UNA held early 10-5 and 14-11 leads in the fourth set. The Blue Raiders took their first lead at 20-19 and ended the match on a 7-0 spurt.
 
Parsonage finished with 11 kills to lead North Alabama. Breylee Linder had 16 assists while Kennedey Johnoson had 11 assists on the night. Defensively, Katie Gerig recorded 13 digs while Griggs notched six blocks.
 
UNA will close the regular season with two matches at Liberty March 19-20.
