FLORENCE, Ala. -- After opening the season with six straight road games, the University of North Alabama baseball team will open a three-game weekend series at home at Mike Lane Field Friday beginning at 5 p.m. against the Little Rock Trojans.

UNA, 0-6 overall, hosts the 3-4 Trojans in single game matchups on Friday, Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (noon).

Although historically the Lions have enjoyed tremendous success playing at home at Mike Lane Field, UNA has had just 21 home games since making the move to Division I, while playing 55 on the road.

UNA is 765-254-4 at Mike Lane Field since 1984 and is 194-98-1 at home under Mike Keehn.

The Lions are 10-11 at home in the Division I era.

This will be the second series of games between North Alabama and Little Rock in baseball. Last year the Lions and Trojans also played a three-game series in Little Rock, Ark.  North Alabama won the opening game 8-4 before dropping the next two, 7-3 and 2-1.

Hunter Davidson, who is slated to start for UNA on Friday, got the win in that game, throwing 5.2 innings in the UNA victory.and allowing three runs on seven hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.

The first meeting between UNA and Little Rock in baseball was in 1982, with the Trojans pulling off a 12-11 win.

The Trojans bring a 3-4 record to Florence, coming off a 5-3 win on Wednesday over Central Arkansas in the Governor's I-40 Showdown. Little Rock opened the season with a split with Orla Roberts, then lost to Oklahoma State and lost 2-of-3 to Eastern Illinois before the win over UCA.

The weekend's pitching matchups have Davidson (RHP) facing off with Little Rock right-hander Aaron Funk on Friday, UNA left-hander Chase Best against right-hander Hayden Arnold on Saturday and UNA right-hander Kyle Moore against leftie Jack DeCooman in the series finale.
