CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today that 62.61 percent of eligible student-athletes earned Presidential Honor Roll status for their work in the classroom in 2020-21 -- including 37 members of the University of North Alabama football team.  

To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently-completed academic year, and this past season, 2,289 out of 3,656 eligible student-athletes achieved the benchmark.

The Big South also honored six members of the UNA football team with the 2021-22 Big South Commissioner's Award. That list honors student-athletes with 4.0 grade point averages.

UNA stundet-athletes receiving the Big South Commissioner's Award are Sam Contorno of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Thomas Dowis of Bogart, Ga., Joe Gurley of Killen, Ala., Jack Peavey of Oxford, Ala., K.J. Smith of Perry, Ga., and A.J. Vang of Goddard, Kan.
