UNA VOLLEYBALL FALLS AT HOME TO STETSON

FLORENCE – Stetson's Elena Djokovic had 23 kills to lead the Hatters to a 3-1 win over the University of North Alabama volleyball team Friday evening at Flowers Hall. With the 19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 13-25 loss, the Lions fall to 12-7 on the season and 2-5 in ASUN Conference play.
 
Djokovic, who totaled 32 kills against UNA last season, finished the match with a .352 hitting percentage. She added five blocks on the night as Stetson improved to 12-5 overall and 3-2 in league action.
 
On Friday, UNA let an early lead slip away in the first set before losing a late lead in the second to fall into an early 0-2 hole. The Lions were a point away from tying the match with a 24-23 set point in the second set. The Hatters, however, called timeout and answered with three straight points to take the commanding lead.
 
North Alabama had its best showing in the third frame. Hayley Martin and Mattrice had four kills each and the Lions hit .250 as a team to avoid the sweep.
 
The Hatters responded by leading wire-to-wire in the fourth set to grab the overall win.
 
Taylor Floyd led UNA with 12 kills. Elif Ozsoy added 40 assists while Ella Ratzloff finished with a match-high 26 digs.
 
UNA will remain at home to host FGCU on Sunday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
