Box Score CONWAY, Ark. -- With North Alabama holding a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning, Central Arkansas rallied with a run in the eighth and another in the ninth to take a 3-2 win over the Lions in the second game of an ASUN Conference baseball series.
UNA is now 9-34 overall and 2-21 in ASUN play. Central Arkansas improved to 21-23 overall and 15-8 in conference play.
With UNA leading 2-1 in the eighth, Tte tying run scored for UCA when A.J. Mendola reached on a fielding error and scored on a triple by Drew Sturgeon.
In the top of the ninth, UNA got a leadoff double from
Peyton Thomas but UCA reliever Avery Williams struckout the side to end the threat.
The wining run scored in the ninth with Central Arkansas' R.J. Pearson reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a triple by Kolby Johnson.
UNA took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when
Reid Homan and
Drew Hudson singled,
Cal Cook sacrificed them over and Homan scored on a ground out by
Levi Jensen.
Central Arkansas tied the game with a run in the fifth inning and UNA went back on top with a run in the sixth. Homan doubled and scored on an RBI-single by Jensen.
North Alabama starter
Will Haberstock allowed just one run on two hits over six and a third innings, walking six and striking out four.
Austin Emener (0-3) came on in relief with the Lions holding a 2-1 lead and took the loss, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits over two innings.
Luke Harper was 2-for-4 for the Lions in the game, extending his current hitting streak to 19 straight games. He has reached base successfully in the last 21 straight games.
The Lions and Bears play the final game of the series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
