VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS ALCORN STATE IN NASHVILLE

NASHVILLE, Tenn., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team opened play at the Tennessee State Tiger Classic with a 3-0 sweep over Alcorn State. With the 25-9, 25-23, 25-20 victory, the Lions improved to 9-1 on the season, equaling their win total from a year ago and tying a program record for most wins in a Division I season.
 
After a dominating opening set, UNA had to hold on to win each of the next two games. The Lions hit .429 in the first frame, but a -.020 showing in the second set resulted in a slim 25-23 victory.
 
In the third game a 6-0 spurt by North Alabama broke a 4-4 tie and the Lions never trailed.
 
Taylor Floyd finished with a match-high 12 kills. Breylee Linder added 31 assists while Ella Ratzloff recorded 10 digs on the day.
 
UNA will remain in Nashville for two more matches at the event Saturday in Kean Hall. The Lions will take on Bethune-Cookman at noon before facing the host Tigers at 3 p.m.
