VOLLEYBALL LIONS SPLIT FINAL DAY OF TSU TIGER CLASSIC

NASHVILLE, Tenn., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team posted a 1-1 record on the last day of the Tennessee State Tiger Classic on Saturday, defeating Bethune-Cookman 3-0 before falling to the host Tigers 3-1. With the split, UNA moves to 10-2 on the season.
 
In the opener, the 25-21, 25-14, 25-12 victory over the Wildcats gave UNA 10 wins on the season to set a new Division I era program record for wins in a season. Hayley Martin led the Lions with 13 kills. Breylee Linder added 34 assists and a trio of service aces. Defensively, Ella Ratzloff had a match-high 16 digs while Maggie Sullivan recorded five blocks.
 
Against Tennessee State, a UNA rally came up short in the 21-25, 20-25, 25-23, 19-25 loss. The Lions hit .195 as a team and surrendered 10 service aces to TSU.
 
Taylor Floyd recorded 15 kills on the match, but was the only UNA player to reach double figures. Linder and Elif Ozsoy totaled 19 assists each.
 
Ratzloff led the team with 22 digs. Katie Gerig added 13 digs while Floyd's 12 digs gave her another double-double on the season. Tatum Fouche also reached double figures in the category with 10 digs.
 
UNA will now turn its attention to ASUN Conference play. The Lions will play at Kennesaw State on Friday and at Jacksonville State the following day.
