NOTES
SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 15th all-time meeting for the two programs dating back to 2000. North Alabama is 4-10 against Lipscomb. Unlike some other divisional opponents, the Lions have seen the Bison twice in a season before -- thanks to the 2018 and 2023 ASUN Postseason. This year's format brings back-to-back matchups due to the divisional schedule. 11 of the 14 matchups have come during the Division I era for these two programs. The Bisons got the best of the Lions in Florence on Sunday, winning 3-1.
Abigail Witten and
Anna Fugarino connected for Fugarino's second goal of the season. North Alabama notched five corners for the game while putting up 10 shots against Lipscomb.
SCOUTING THE BISONS: Lipscomb leads the ASUN Gold Division with a 9-3-1 record and remains undefeated in conference play. The Bisons are currently on a five-game winning streak. Their last loss came in a 3-0 match at Alabama. North Alabama was only the second conference opponent to score a goal on Lipscomb. The Bisons have outscored conference opponents 14-2 while their keeper, Kaïna Cesar, jumps to a .917 save percentage against ASUN foes.
ABOUT LAST GAME: The University of North Alabama soccer team fell to Lipscomb 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Cox Creek Sports Complex, ending a two-game home stand. North Alabama scored its lone goal in the 80th minute when sophomores
Abigail Witten and
Anna Fugarino connected on a header that found the back of the net. Lipscomb scored once in the first half and added two goals in the second to secure the win. Sunday was the first multi-goal game the Lions have conceded this season. Goalkeeper
Madison Vukas recorded six saves, while the defense blocked or deflected six other Lipscomb shots.
SNAKE SCHEDULE: North Alabama is officially in the final stages of its season. After moving to divisions this past year, the Lions play every team twice – see below. Most recently, the team competed against Lipscomb on their home turf, now they turn to Lipscomb on the road. In a "snake-style" schedule, UNA's opponents for the second half of conference play reverses in order and flips locations. North Alabama played Central Arkansas at home, Bellarmine and EKU on the road and Austin Peay and Lipscomb at home. Over the final five games, the Lions head to Lipscomb and Austin Peay with EKU and Bellarmine at home, then will play the regular season finale at Central Arkansas.
TO CONFERENCE PLAY!: The ASUN moved to two divisions ahead of the 2025 spring season, meaning teams will only play within the division during the regular season. During post season, each division matches up with the other in the first round, including top seeds against four seeds and two seeds against three seeds. All soccer postseason games will be hosted on campus sites by the top two teams in each division.
GOLD AND GRAPHITE: The ASUN Gold Division is where North Alabama will play this season, joining Central Arkansas, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, EKU and Lipscomb. The Graphite Division includes FGCU, Jacksonville, Stetson, North Florida, West Georgia and Queens.
NEXT GAME: Following the match against Lipscomb, UNA stays on the road in Tennessee to play Austin Peay on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Morgan Bros. Soccer Field.
