NOTES
CLINCHED: North Alabama has officially secured a spot in the first-ever United Athletic Conference soccer postseason tournament after the 1-0 win over EKU last Sunday. The Lions make the inaugural UAC postseason tournament after enjoying years of success in the Atlantic Sun postseason. North Alabama made an ASUN championship appearance twice in both 2018 and 2023. The Lions made the first round of the ASUN tournament in both 2020 and 2025. The Lions, as it stands, hold the No. 2 seed for the Blue Division, which would slate them against the Red Division's No. 3 seed currently held by Central Arkansas. The UAC tournament is all solidified with EKU, North Alabama and Austin Peay from the UAC Blue Division; Tarleton State, Abilene Christian and Central Arkansas claimed the three spots in the UAC Red Division.
ABOUT LAST GAME: North Alabama (6-4-6, 3-3-3 UAC) held a scoreless draw against Austin Peay (2-13-3, 1-6-2 UAC) on Thursday for its pink-out game at Bank Independent Stadium. The Lions tallied 18 shots toward the Govs' goal, coupled with nine corners. Junior midfielder Emerson Nieroda had four shots with two on target to lead the Lions, with former Governor Alana Owens tallying three shots with two on target as well. This was the first loss or tie for the Lions against the Govs since 2024. This draw and the West Georgia loss to EKU on Thursday gave Austin Peay the third-place slot in the UAC Blue Division, guaranteeing at least one postseason game in Conway, Ark. for the Govs.
TIED ALL-TIME: After the 1-0 win over Eastern Kentucky, Chris Walker owns 111 total wins under his belt for his 14-year head coaching career. Walker needs just one win to become the all-time winningest coach in program history, surpassing Graham Winkworth for the most wins by a head coach. Winkworth coached at North Alabama from 2003-2012 and won 111 games during that span.
SERIES HISTORY: Sunday afternoon will be the 18th all-time meeting between the two programs since 2004 but only the third meeting in the Division I era. The Lions hold a 12-4-2 advantage over the Wolves, with the most recent meeting occurring earlier this season. In September, the Lions traveled to West Georgia for the first conference matchup of the year, shutting out the Wolves 1-0.
SCOUTING THE WOLVES: West Georgia arrives in Florence for their last game of the 2026 season with a conference record of 0-8-1. The one tie took place last Sunday against Austin Peay in a 0-0 draw in Clarksville, Tenn. Senior Noemi Casique leads the Wolves with four goals on the season, while goalkeeper Emily Sanabria averages 7.21 saves per game to lead the UAC.
NEXT GAME: Following the senior celebration and the last home game at Bank Independent Stadium, the Lions will travel to Conway, Ark., for the postseason on Sunday, Nov. 8. The opponent will officially be announced next week. As it currently stands, Central Arkansas would be UNA's opponent.
