NOTES
LAST TIME OUT: This past October, UNA finished in third at the Florida Atlantic Invitational tournament in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. led by an individual first place finish from junior Andrew Ferworn. The tournament, originally scheduled for three rounds, was shortened to two rounds on Tuesday morning of that week. Per Florida Atlantic University's athletic department, wet course conditions forced the tournament to be shortened to 36 holes. Ferworn walked away with his first individual win of the 2025 season as he completed the tournament with an eight-under-par 136 (69-67) scorecard.
FLORIDA FERWORN: The first tournament of the men's golf championship season sees the Lions make their way down to Atlantic Beach, Fla. The Lions ended the 2025 Fall season at the FAU Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. where they finished third for the day. However, junior Andrew Ferworn finished the fall season with his first individual crown of the year at the FAU Invitational. He led the field in birdies with 12 — six in both rounds — and bested all golfers in par-4s with his 3.70 average (-6). The junior shot under on both the front and back nine for the two rounds with a low of 33 on the front nine of the second round; he had only one bogey in the second round.
THE BREAKDOWN: Jacksonville is the host school for the Seabest Invitational where 14 teams will compete. The tournament tees off Monday at 8:00 a.m. CT by way of shotgun start with the first two rounds to be played. The Atlantic Beach Country Club features an 18-hole, 6,815 yard par-71 course.
THE FIELD: Fourteen teams will compete in the tournament. Host school Jacksonville will be joined by several in-state programs, including Florida, Florida Atlantic, FGCU, UCF and North Florida. Atlantic Sun foe Lipscomb tags along while former ASUN conference members Kennesaw State and Liberty join in on the fun. The rest of the field includes Louisiana Tech, USC Upstate, UNCW and Texas A&M.
FER-GOAT FALL: Ferworn has already been mentioned, but his level of play in the fall put eyes on him even from Scoreboard Clippd, which ranked the junior the 122nd best collegiate golfer in the nation. Last season after the fall, he was ranked 153rd with four top-10 finishes and two wins with his average of 72 on the course. Over 13 rounds in 2025, he averaged a 69.4 score as he finished in the top-three of individuals in his final four tournaments.
Starting Lineup:
1. Andrew Ferworn — So. — Houston, Texas
2. Sebastian Bengtsson — Jr. — Helsingborg, Sweden
3. Corey Maher — Sr. — Frisco, Texas
