NOTES
LAST TIME OUT: This past Saturday, North Alabama made its first trip to Nashville since the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship Game. The Lions played a solid first half before falling 73-51 to the Bisons in Allen Arena. Despite the final score, there were nine lead changes. UNA led for over 15 minutes and took a 26-24 lead into the halftime break. Lipscomb scored 49 points in the second half, shooting 20-27 from the field for 74.1 percent to jump ahead.
Kevin de Kovachich led the Lions with 15 points.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: UNA will be one of the 12 teams to make the 2026 ASUN Championship Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. UNA is currently 12th in the standings with a 3-13 record, sitting just one game back of North Florida and two of Jacksonville. If the season ended today, UNA would face FGCU in the first round next Tuesday. The Lions are led by Bacchus with 14.9 PPG and redshirt junior
Corneilous Williams with 12.4 PPG and 9.6 RPG to lead the ASUN.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS: Bellarmine has a 6-10 record in conference play, sitting just two games back of fifth and in a three-way log jam for seventh with Stetson and West Georgia. Bellarmine is one of the best field goal percentage teams in the country from all aspects, ranking third in field goal percentage (52.0), eighth in free throw shooting (78.9) and 16th from behind the arc (38.4). All three stats also lead the ASUN. The Knights are on a four-game skid following a four-game win streak. The last two losses came in three-point games against Lipscomb and EKU. Senior forward Jack Karasinski leads the ASUN with 20.6 PPG this season. He ranks 19th in the NCAA in scoring.
SERIES HISTORY: Wednesday will be the 11th all-time meeting between UNA and Bellarmine. The Knights lead the series 6-4. The Knights won each of the first five meetings starting in 2021. However, UNA has won four of the last five since 2023. UNA has won the last two meetings in CB&S Bank Arena.
LAST MEETING: In January, UNA snapped a five-game skid with a hard-fought 82-73 victory over Bellarmine in Louisville. The Lions were looking to avoid a three-game skid in this matchup. Down 33-32 at the break, the Lions outscored Bellarmine by a 50-40 score in the second half. This was the highest scoring half for UNA since the home opener against Lane College. Howell virtually unstoppable from the corner, finishing 8-9 from behind the arc. He posted a career-high 24 points to lead all players. UNA shot 11-21 from downtown in the win, including Howell going 6-6 in the second half from three-point land.
BACK TO FORM: Corneilous Williams led the ASUN in rebounding last season and has led the league for almost the entirety of this season. Williams has only entered four games this year without being the ASUN's leading rebounder. He is currently averaging 9.6 RPG to rank ahead of Shelton Williams-Dryden of West Georgia in second at 9.2 RPG.
SIXTH-YEAR SENIOR: Dallas Howell is the longest-tenured member of the program with six seasons at UNA, including a COVID-19 season and an injury redshirt last season. He is one just seven players in Division to play for six seasons, but he is the only one to play all six at the same school. The other schools with a sixth-year player include Oklahoma, Iowa State, USC, Texas, Bowling Green and Tarleton State.
TWENTY-PIECE NUGGET: Bacchus remains UNA's leading scorer at 14.9 PPG and has scored 20 or more points seven times this season, including five of the last nine games. He had 21 points last Sunday in the ESPNU win over EKU.
CANADIAN SCORER: By way of Montreal, Quebec, Canada and later Hamilton Height Academy in Chattanooga, de Kovachich has been an instrumental offensive piece for UNA the last few games. Last Wednesday against Queens, he matched a career-high 23 points. This is also a new high against Division I opponents, as the first 23-point game came against Dalton State last season.
STAYING OUT OF FOUL TROUBLE: UNA currently ranks 22nd in the country with only 14.9 fouls per game. The top mark is only 12.7 fouls per game by South Alabama.
SHOWING UP: UNA looks to lead the ASUN in average attendance for a second straight season, currently averaging 2,353 fans per game. The Lions averaged 2,367 fans per game last season, ranking ahead of FGCU and Lipscomb in second and third, respectively.
