ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. (February 3, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's golf team finished the Seabest Invitational on Tuesday at the Atlantic Beach Country Club in Atlantic Beach, Fla. in 12th place.
Senior Sebastian Bengtsson continued to lead the Lions for the entirety of the tournament, as he placed tied for 20th. He finished under par on the front nine and added a birdie on the ninth hole — the final hole for UNA golfers as they all started on the 10th to begin the day.
This was a two-day tournament, shortened to 18 holes each day due to the frigid weather that impacted the state of Florida. For reference, during the practice period on Sunday, the temperatures barely rose above freezing.
After the change from the three rounds to the two-round tournament, this marked the third two-round tournament of the season for North Alabama. Prior to this season, the most recent two-round tournament came two seasons ago during the 2023-24 season at the Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate, where the Lions finished fourth.
The final 18 holes did not see momentous movement except for the No. 5 Florida Gators getting a last second win as they took the final stroke lead over UNCW in the final holes. UF finished the day nine-under, the best single round for any team in the tournament.
After the two aforementioned teams, No. 34 Texas A&M jumped to third, three strokes ahead of fourth place UCF. These were the only four teams to shoot under for the tournament.
FGCU dropped two spots to fifth after a three-over day but bested Liberty who made the jump to sixth with their even par day. Lipscomb fell three spaces for seventh while North Florida jumped three spots to finish in eighth.
Kennesaw State stayed put in ninth, as Louisiana Tech fell three spots to 11th. North Alabama was one stroke behind LA Tech but finished ahead of 13th place Jacksonville by three strokes. USC Upstate closed out the field at 36-over.
After Bengtsson, true freshman Jedd Brady followed him in 46th — Brady had two birdies for the afternoon. Xing Luo shot under-par for a majority of the day with four birdies, even securing an under-par back nine.
Junior Andrew Ferworn ended the day with two birdies to jump three spots to 68th, while senior Corey Maher landed behind him in 85th with two birdies for himself.
North Alabama has a week off before heading to California to play in The Prestige on Monday, Feb. 16 at the PGA West — Norman Course.
