GREENWOOD, Ind. (June 16, 2026) – College Sports Communicators (CSC) revealed the 2026 Academic All-District awards for men's golf this week in the at-large category, listing seniors
Sebastian Bengtsson,
Blake Henriques and
Xing Luo from the University of North Alabama.
This is Bengtsson and Luo's third consecutive CSC Academic All-District selection; Henriques earned back-to-back honors this season.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The athletic criteria includes that eligible nominees must be in the lineup for 75 percent of an institution's team scoring events or in the lineup at the conference championship tournament.
Both Bengtsson and Luo of these Lions were named to both the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and Academic All-ASUN lists a season ago. They are the first pair of teammates in program history to win the award in three consecutive seasons.
Bengtsson, a senior from Helsingborg, Sweden, finished with three top-10 finishes this season and eight total top-30 finishes. His best showing came at the home tournament on Oct. 13-14 at the Turtle Point Invite at one-under to finish 18th of 75-member field. Bengtsson finished as the No. 646 best golfer in the nation with a 575-296-60 record.
The senior shot a low round of 66 in round two of the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational at the Silverado Resort (North). He had seven birdies in that round and even had a back-nine of 32 to finish his day.
Bengtsson closed out his career at the NGI with back-to-back final rounds of 71-69 to finish four-under in 23rd.
Luo completed another great season for North Alabama as the No. 581 golfer in the nation. He had four top-seven finishes this season. His highest placement came in fifth at seven-under at the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational which drove him up 44 spots across collegiate golf.
The Katy, Texas native had his best round of the season at the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Sep. 9 with a 66 in the final round. He had six birdies to jump 13 spots for seventh to lead the Lions to a 34-under tournament.
Luo had the best round at the NGI with a 67 (-5) second round. He finished six-under in Arizona with a tie for 18th to lead the Lions one final time to close out his collegiate career.
Henriques completed his second season with the Lions and his collegiate career with a 35th-place finish at the Golfweek NGI. The senior laced 11 birdies over the three rounds and shot a 70 (-2) in the final round to finish even par for his final collegiate round.
Over the past two seasons at UNA, Henriques competed in over 47 rounds in the purple and white. One of the most memorable moments for the Canton, Ga. native was his play at the Golfweek Spring Challenge where he shot a 65 (-7) in the first round of the tournament and finished 15th.
These three players led the Lions to 99 wins over teams this year with remarkable ones such as sixth-place finish at The Prestige tournament. The Lions beat 11 top-100 ranked opponents in this tournament — five being top-50 teams — while being tied with one other. North Alabama won out over teams such as No. 25 Wake Forest, No. 34 Clemson, No. 44 Little Rock and No. 46 Colorado, among others in La Quinta, Calif.
North Alabama received its first NCAA Division I postseason nod thanks to these three golfers. The three were integral to the Golfweek National Golf Invitational selection in Maricopa, Az. where the Lions finished in ninth.
In the Scoreboard CLIPPD rankings, North Alabama finished No. 109 across the NCAA. The team had two wins this season at the GMAC Invitational and Turtle Point Invite while earning six top-five finishes this season.
