Women’s Golf surges up leaderboard at ASUN Championship

Whittle shoots career-low round of 72; Whittle and Klauber eagle 18th hole

DOTHAN, Ala. (April 18, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team celebrated two eagles and jumped two spots on the leaderboard with a strong second round at the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in Dothan, Ala.

The eagles were both recorded on the 18th hole by sophomore Olivia Whittle and redshirt junior Kerigan Klauber. This highlighted a stellar day on all four par-fives for the Lions that included no bogeys and a combined eight-under on those holes.

UNA had one of the six lowest rounds of the day at eight-over, moving up two spots into a tie for eighth place in the second round. This marked the second-largest jump of the day behind Central Arkansas, which moved four spots up to third.

The Lions are now within 11 strokes of the top five heading into the final round.

Whittle led the team with a career-low round of 72, breaking even with an eagle, a birdie and three bogeys. She parred the rest of the way and was one of 18 players in the field to finish even or better in the second round. Whittle is now tied for 21st.

Sophomore Sirichaya Chanpen and junior Ava Schwartz are in a tie for 27th at six-over for the tournament. The latter carded a 73 with two birdies on the day, including one on the 18th hole and one on the ninth to end her round. All five Lions started on Hole 10.

Chanpen carded a 75 today with three birdies. Two of her birdies came on par-four holes.

True freshman Kiersten Riggins moved up three spots with a 76 on Saturday, including two birdies. She is tied for 37th, while Klauber finished with a 79 to round out the order. Klauber had a birdie on six in addition to her eagle on 18.

North Florida remains ahead by 28 strokes at 28-under, followed by FGCU at even in second. The rest of the leaderboard includes Central Arkansas, Stetson, Lipscomb, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, UNA and West Georgia, EKU, Jacksonville and Queens.

The Lions and Wolves are tied and sit five strokes back of seventh place Bellarmine and 10 back of sixth-place Austin Peay. UNA and UWG lead 10th place EKU by 12 strokes.

UNA, now paired with Bellarmine and West Georgia, will play the final round on Sunday at 8:05 a.m.
