Box Score MURRAY, Ky. (May 12, 2026) — The University of North Alabama baseball team dropped the final midweek game of the season to Murray State by a decision of 9-5 on Tuesday at Johnny Reagan Field at Taylor Family Park in Murray, Ky.
In the first inning, senior designated hitter Dylan Coleman hit his 16th home run of the season. He now stands solely in second place at the Division I level for home runs in a season, behind teammate Nash Rippen.
North Alabama (25-26, 16-11 ASUN) used three more runs in the top of the third to create the five runs. Wes Walker singled to score Tyler LePage while Cayden Sheffield and Justin Santoyo hit back-to-back sacrifice flies to cross the final two.
Murray State (29-24, 13-8 MVC) used two home runs to score seven runs for the 7-5 lead in the bottom of the third inning. A wild pitch and sacrifice fly scored insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth for the win.
The Lions used seven pitchers during the final midweek game as Hunter Bell earned his second start of the season; he faced 12 batters through 2.0 innings of work. After Bell was Jake Bynar and John Allen Stogner who pitched a combined 3.0 innings. Stogner faced the most batters at 14 and only allowed two hits.
Both Justin Battle and Josh Bowerman threw an inning while Jordan Touhey and Landon Scruggs closed out the final inning together. Boynar, Stogner, Battle and Bowerman all had one strikeout each.
Coleman led the Lions offensively with two of the seven total hits; he recorded two runs and two RBIs as well. Jackson Westmoreland, LePage, Rippen, Walker and Santoyo all had one hit.
Captain Charlie Cochran earned his fourth start of the season behind the dish. Redshirt junior Jackson Cheek received his first nod of the season in left field.
