NOTES
ABOUT LAST GAME: The Lions (3-0-1) are coming off an undefeated August after their most recent 2-1 win over the Southeast Missouri Redhawks. In the 14th minute, midfielder Monica Yoder scored the first goal of the season to tie it 1-1. Senior captain Charlotte Sobotka scored her first goal of the season in the 63rd minute to give the Lions a win over the Redhawks. These two became the ninth and 10th different players to score for the Lions this season. UNA had 22 shots — the second game with 20-plus shots this season — and 10 corner kicks compared to SEMO's six shots and no corners. The Redhawks snuck in one goal in the ninth minute from Rachel Kretzer but were held off by the Lion defense for the remaining 81 minutes.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the first meeting between the North Alabama Lions and the California Baptist Lancers in program history.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS: California Baptist enters this matchup with the same undefeated record as the Lions at 3-0-1. The Lancers are on a three-game win streak, taking down Portland State (2-0), UNLV (1-0) and most recently, UC Santa Barbara (2-0). Their lone tie of the season came in the first game of the season against Cal (0-0). Graduate goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording her third clean sheet against UC Santa Barbara. Freshman forward Bella D'Amico earned Big West Rookie of the Week after scoring her first career goal against the Gauchos in the 65th minute to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead. The Lancers are coming off back-to-back conference champions in the WAC, and in their first season in the Big West, they were projected to finish sixth of 12 teams.

PRIDE OF THE CONFERENCE: The North Alabama Lions are on a three-game win streak with victories over SEMO (2-1), Tennessee Tech (2-0) and Union (6-1). In the past two weeks, three Lions have earned UAC weekly awards with defender Avery Smith and forward Anna Fugarino sweeping the awards last week, and senior forward Charlotte Sobotka earning an award this week. Smith won Defender of the Week after helping hold Tennessee Tech to just five shots on target and logging the first clean sheet of the season. In the same game, Fugarino scored her first two goals of the season to give the Lions a strong win over the Golden Eagles. This week, captain Sobotka earned Player of the Week – the first weekly award of her career – after scoring her first goal of the season, which became the game-winner against SEMO on Sunday afternoon.

NEXT GAME: North Alabama continues its road stint to face UC San Diego in San Diego, Calif. on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.
