FLORENCE – West Florida jumped out to early leads in each set en route to a 3-0 sweep over North Alabama Saturday afternoon in Gulf South Conference volleyball action. With the 25-14, 25-19, 25-16 road victory, the No. 19 Argonauts (17-2 overall, 10-0 GSC) retain first place in the GSC standings while the Lions remain in second place at the midpoint of the season.
West Florida hit .319 for the match and led by double digits in each of the first two sets before pulling away late in the third set to complete the sweep. Corisha Smith led the Argonauts with 11 kills and a .409 hitting percentage.
Jessica Austin led UNA. The sophomore posted 13 kills and hit .333 for the match. Natasha Fomina also hit .348 with 11 kills on the day. Setter Andrea De Leon added 30 assists and 10 digs to lead the Lions in each category.
UNA will host West Alabama on Tuesday. Match time is set for 6 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
