CARROLLTON, Ga., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team could not find its offensive rhythm Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to Saint Leo on the final day of the South Region Crossover. The Lions hit .174 as a team in the 23-25, 21-25, 23-25 loss to fall to 16-6 on the season.
Saint Leo recorded seven total team blocks for the match and held UNA without a player in double-digit kill totals for the first time on the year. The Lions also had three service errors and three reception errors on the day.
After dropping the first two closely-contested contests, UNA held an 18-13 advantage in the third set. SLU, however, rallied with a 7-1 run to grab its first lead and never trailed again.
Natasha Fomina had nine kills to lead the Lions. Andrea De Leon added 28 assists while Ashtyn Kapovich recorded a match-high 19 digs.
North Alabama will return to Carrollton on Tuesday for a Gulf South Conference match against West Georgia. Match time is set for 7 p.m. (EST) at the Coliseum no the UWG campus.
