KILLEN, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama men's golf team won the team title in a 12-team field at the North Alabama Spring Classic, while UNA senior Aaron Jackson of Russellville, Ala., claimed medalist honors. The tournament was played at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.

The Lions were 10-under par as a team entering the final round but despite posting an eight-over-par round on Tuesday, UNA maintained an eight-stroke advantage over Belmont to win the tournament and give the school its first golf tournament victory on the NCAA Division I level.

UNA's 862 total had the Lions at two-under par. North Alabama was followed by Belmont (870), Jacksonville State (876), Troy (888), IUPUI (890), Stetson (896), Southeastern Louisiana (898), Depaul (898), Valparaiso (900), Loyola-Chicago (902), Morehead State (902) and Murray State (903).

UNA's Aaron Jackson led all individuals with rounds of 69, 67 and for a 208 total to take medalist honors. UNA's Payton Massey tied for 3rd )215), Eli Hodges tied for 17th (221) and Jackson Wedgeworth and Dakota Terry tied for 25th (223).

There were six Lions who played as individuals in the event with Thomas Luther tied for 10th (21), Rob Richards tied for 37th (226), Karl Filip Einarsson     tied for 42nd (227), Frankie Wade tied for 63rd (235), Brant Bishop tied for 68th (237) and Lance Strickland 73rd (239).
