NAPA, Calif. (March 22, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's golf team heads to Napa, Calif. on March 23-24 for the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Central Michigan and the GCAA at Silverado Resort (North).

NOTES

LAST TIME OUT: UNA took a 16th placement this past Tuesday, completing the Seminole Intercollegiate tournament held in Tallahassee, Fla. The tournament was originally planned for 18-holes a day over the course of three days. However, due to weather Monday, the tournament changed to a 36-hole Sunday and an 18-hole Tuesday. The limited number of holes not finalized on Sunday were completed on Monday afternoon when some weather had passed. The Lions had the eighth-best round outside of the top-five teams and Eastern Kentucky who finished in a tie for seventh. The host school Florida State was the only team to shoot under-par for the three rounds and the only team to do so in the final round. North Alabama bested the likes of Ball State, Boston College, USC Upstate, Francis Marion and Colgate.

THE BREAKDOWN: Central Michigan is the host school for the tournament in collaboration with the Golf Coaches Association of America. A total of 14 teams will tee off on Monday, March 23. Monday starts by way of shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. CT and Tuesday will see a structure of tee times. The course is a par 72 and spans 6,988 yards.

THE FIELD: A total of 14 teams will participate in this tournament. BYU is the leader of the group, ranked No. 27 in the nation while Santa Clara is 90th and Eastern Michigan is 94th. Outside of the host school — Central Michigan — University of San Francisco, North Carolina A&T, Howard, Cal Poly, University of California-Davis, Connecticut, Hawaii and Tohoku Fukushi University complete the group.
 
DESIGNER CONNECTIONS: Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club is located minutes away from Florence, Ala. where the Lions host their annual fall tournament each year. Its designer? Robert Trent Jones Sr. the world-renowned course designer who has his own littering of Alabama courses was contacted to begin designing the course in 1961. In the mid-1960s, Robert Trent Jones Jr. helped modernize the Silverado Resort's North course. Further redesign came later on from Hall-of-Famer and former Silverado Resort owner Johnny Miller. The significance? Miller is the father of the BYU Director of Golf, Todd Miller, who is competing with North Alabama in the tournament.
 
2025 BRIDEGSTONE: Last season, the Lions finished 16-over to finish in ninth as a team led by then-junior Xing Luo who finished in second holding a scorecard of 208. This score ties the third-best of his career which came in the 2024 Turtle Point Invite. Luo led all players with 16 birdies for the tournament and was first in par-4s at eight-under for the three rounds. Tohoku Fukushi won with a 21-under tournament as a team, including a seven-under round three. Santa Clara finished in second at 16-under where they finished with a nine-under round three.
