At the halfway point of the conference season, UNA has also moved into a tie for third place in the ASUN standings with a 5-3 league mark.

After a first half that featured seven ties and 13 lead changes, North Alabama took a 38-35 lead into the break. The Lions never trailed over the final 20 minutes of play. UNA shot 44.7 percent from the floor and added eight three-point baskets on the night.

UNA led by as many as eight in the second half, but could never pull away. A basket a free throw by Littles capped a three-point play at the 15:39 mark to give the Lions a 49-41 lead. The Highlanders, however, responded with six straight points to stay within striking distance.

NJIT cut the deficit to a single point on five different occasions, but could never take the lead. With the Lions clinging to a 66-65 lead with 2:14 remaining, UNA got a basket by Blackmon, followed by a defensive rebound by Littles. C.J. Brim then drew a foul and hit two free throws to push the lead to 70-65 at the 1:34 mark.

The ASUN's leading scorer Zach Cooks connected on two foul shots to pull the Highlanders to within three before Payton Youngblood went 1-of-2 from the line to make the score 71-67 in the final minute of play. Blackmon, however, went 5-of-6 from the line down the stretch. Brim also hit two free throws with less than a second remaining to put the game out of reach.

The two teams combined for 54 fouls on the night. North Alabama was 28-of-36 from the free throw line, including a 16-of-18 showing in the second half.

Brim finished with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. Youngblood came off the bench to toss in 11 points while Littles had 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. It was the ninth time this season the sophomore from Lanett has recorded double-digit rebound totals.
