BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Strong first round performances by
Frankie Wade and
Dawson Garrett have the University of North Alabama eighth in a 15-team field at the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational at the Pfau Course at Indiana University.
The tournament concludes Monday.
The Lions turned in a 13-over-par, 297 total on the opening day. Cincinnati leads the event at one-under par, 283.
Wade's even par 72 has him tied for 17th individually and Garrett is tied for 23rd at 73.
Following Cincinnati in the standings, Illinois is second at 286, Illinois and Indiana are tied for third at 291, Ball State is fifth at 292, Memphis sixth at 295, Miami (Ohio) seventh at 296 and UNA eighth.
The Lions lead Valparaiso (298), Loyola-Chicago (299), Lipscomb (300), Butler (308), Bradley (311), IUPUI (317) and Evansville (324).
UNA's
Tom Roed Karlsen is tied for 35th at 75,
Carter Goodwin is tied for 43rd at 77 and
Thomas Regan is tied for 66th at 80.
