LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 5, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's golf team wrapped up the first day of the Cullan Brown Collegiate on Monday in 14th place at Lexington Country Club.
Round two of the tournament was suspended due to darkness at 7:12 p.m. Jedd Brady had one hole that needed to be finalized while all other Lions had two or more.
At one point during the first round, the Lions were tied for second with sophomore Arthur Estas tied for seventh. The team led several major powers at that point such as Penn State and Iowa State, among others.
However, the Lions dropped down to 14th before the conclusion of the second round with a total of 537 scorecard. The second round will finish at 8 a.m. with the third round to follow to conclude the tournament.
The Lions' starting lineup consisted of three sophomores in Brady, Estas and Lucas Latimer alongside two freshmen in Will Hindemit and Jack Morris. Hindemit earned his first start of the season for the Cullan Brown Collegiate; the freshman birdied on his second collegiate hole.
North Alabama was paired with Penn State, Xavier and Virginia Commonwealth (VCU) golfers for the two rounds today.
At 22-over, the Lions bested United Athletic Conference foe EKU which had a 39-over first day. UNA is six-back from Kennesaw State (+16) who sits in 13th.
Estas led the group through the first day in 35th at three-over. The Belgium native opened with a perfect first nine holes that saw seven pars and two birdies for a 34 score.
After Estas, Latimer and Morris tied in 45th to finish today. Latimer rose 14 spots with five birdies, while Morris rose six on his own as he totaled four birdies through his time. Morris is third amongst the field for par-threes at one-under when approaching those holes.
Hindemit (+12) and Brady (+14) finished in 80th and 85th, respectively. Hindemit, the Canadian product, had four birdies in his opening day debut.
Only three schools saw red numbers in Tennessee (-8), Mississippi State (-5) and Kentucky (-5). Every other team outside of the top-three shot two-over or more at today's conclusion. Only two teams, Tennessee and host school Kentucky, shot under par in both rounds.
