FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama has planned a special 9/11 remembrance as part of the Lions' home football game Saturday at Braly Stadium against Chattanooga to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Included in the remembrance will be a pre-game flyover during the national anthem by a C-130 Hercules from the 908th Airwing from Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, as well as a halftime fireworks show by TNT Fireworks.
The day will start with a 6:00 a.m. stair run at Braly Stadium by the UNA Army ROTC.
Throughout the evening, UNA will be recognizing active-duty members of the military, veterans, National Guard, first responders and healthcare workers for their roles. Included among those honorees are several former Lion student-athletes who went on to roles as first responders, or in the military.
Â
Any individual that falls in one of those categories will receive a complimentary ticket to the game and may purchase additional tickets for immediate family members at $5 each. Tickets must be picked up prior to game day, in person, at the UNA Ticket Office in front of Flowers Hall on Pine Street. Individuals will be asked to show a medical or military ID to pick up the complimentary tickets.
Â
The North Alabama Marching Pride will be performing a patriotic medley at halftime and will also be holding its annual Band Day, which will include hundreds of high school band members.
