Baseball announces upcoming schedule changes

Progress continues at Bank Independent Stadium

FLORENCE, Ala. (March 12, 2025) – The University of North Alabama baseball team announced schedule changes for four of its Atlantic Sun Conference opponents and three midweek opponents as construction continues for Bank Independent Stadium.

Construction progress continues on Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium. Turf mobilization and installation is scheduled to begin the week of March 17 with a target of opening Mike D. Lane Field in April to host competition.

Full construction of Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium will continue into the summer amid a Bank Independent Stadium construction project that will take over two years to complete. Bank Independent Stadium groundbreaking was held in June 2024. Bobby Wallace Field at Bank Independent Stadium, the future home of UNA Football and Soccer adjacent to Mike D. Lane Field, is scheduled to open in September 2026.

For this upcoming weekend, the Lions will host Central Arkansas in Birmingham, Ala. at Young Memorial Field on UAB's campus. The Lions played an away series against UAB from Feb. 28-March 2, so they have familiarity with the playing field.

The next change is to the Friday, March 21 game against Eastern Kentucky. The game moved back one hour from a 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. first pitch.

The midweek game against Murray State on Tuesday, April 1 at 4:00 p.m. was slated to be the first home game for North Alabama. Now, the game has been swapped to Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Ky. The April 22nd game against Murray State, slated as an away game, is now a home game for the Lions.

The following midweek games, Middle Tennessee State and Belmont are slated as home games but will be hosted as neutral site games. MTSU is now being played at Northwest Shoals Community College on April 8 at 4 p.m. in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Belmont will be moved to the historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala.

The Austin Peay weekend series that following weekend will follow suit and be hosted at the Northwest Shoals CC neutral site. The Lions will face off against the Governors on Friday, April 11 at 6 p.m.

Additionally, the Bellarmine weekend series starting on Friday April 4 has been flipped from a home series to an away series in Louisville, Ky. The Knights will now come to Florence starting on April 17 for a weekend series at Bank Independent Stadium.
