LAST TIME OUT: The UNA men's golf team finished the Giles-Sprately Collegiate in Virgina on Tuesday in fifth place at Independence Golf Club.Senior
Blake Henriques owned the best round of a Lion golfer at three-under in the final 18. The last-second addition, who was added to the lineup on short notice Sunday, saw five birdies and an eagle en route to a scorecard of 69. He was the only UNA golfer with an eagle and claimed a 33 score (-3) on the back nine with only one bogey. Three of the five Lions moved up in the rankings. Henriques jumped 23 spots from the day prior for the most of any UNA golfer while
Jedd Brady flew up the board 19 spaces and
Andrew Ferworn went up 20. Thanks to the aforementioned trio, the Lions jumped up one spot as the team had the best round of their tournament at six-under. College of Charleston had the best final round at 12-under, while North Alabama had the second-best at six-under.
THE BREAKDOWN: The ASUN is hosting the tournament that will see all 12 member schools throughout the three days. The championship follows a split tee time start from the first and 10th holes. The course is a par 72 and spans 7,482 yards. This year, the tee times are based on Scoreboard Clippd rankings for the first day then distinguished by team standing for the final two rounds –

THE FIELD: A total of 12 teams will participate in this tournament. North Alabama has played with every team in the field so far this season except for Bellarmine. The Lions are most comfortable this season with Lipscomb, seeing the Bisons in five tournaments this season. UNA has seen Queens just once along the way while seeing every other team two or more times in a tournament. Stetson and Jacksonville have accompanied North Alabama in the second-most tournaments at three each.
SEASON LOOK BACK: The Lions head into the ASUN Championships ranked 96th in the country with a 94-45-2 overall record for the season. UNA earned two team crowns at the GMAC Invitational and the Turtle Point Invite during the fall season. Outside of those two finishes, North Alabama earned four other top-five finishes. The team concluded the season with back-to-back top-five finishes at the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational and Giles-Sprately Collegiate. Junior
Andrew Ferworn leads the charge as he is the highest ranked Lion at 200th ahead of postseason play; he has five top-10 designations this year coupled with an individual crown at the FAU Invitational.
ASUNS OF PASTS: This is the fifth ASUN Championship that North Alabama has competed in since the transition to Division I. The Lions finished sixth in 2019, their first year but 2020 saw a canceled tournament. From 2021 to 2024, the team finished fifth, seventh, eighth and seventh respectively. In 2025, the Lions broke through with their best finish in Division I history at fourth place. UNA place three golfers in the top-11 with then juniors
