JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 6, 2026) – University of North Alabama baseball senior third baseman and designated hitter
Dylan Coleman won his first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week award, the league announced Monday.
This award follows Coleman's week against UAB and Central Arkansas. He shares this award with Eastern Kentucky's Khaleel Pratt.
The Madison, Miss. native led the Lions to a series win against Central Arkansas; this lifted the team into a tie for first place in the ASUN Gold Division. He started as the designated hitter in all four games where he batted .412 with seven hits, four runs scored, seven RBIs and two home runs.
His play Saturday stuffed the stat sheet against Central Arkansas in the series-deciding game.
Coleman led the Lions to a 16-run game, a tie for the most during a Division I era game. The 15 hits during the contest tied for a season high, as well.
The designated hitter went 4-for-5 with four runs plated, six RBIs, and two home runs – a near-perfect day. The senior's four runs scored and six RBIs are the most in a game for a Lion this season. His one out even scored a run as it came as a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
Coleman now ties Gehrig Frei for most runs scored in a game during the Division I era while also tying Frei, Kyle Machado and
Matthew Delgado for most RBIs in a game during the Division I era.
His first home run came in the fifth inning which broke a standstill at 9-9 and eventually gave way for the Lions to take the game. His eighth inning home run earned him three more RBIs and gave the Lions their 16th run of the game.
This is the second time this season that Coleman has blasted two home runs in a single game.
This is only the fourth ASUN Player of the Week award for the Lions since the transition to Division I in 2018-19. The first came in 2019 for
Reid Homan on April 15 and the second came in 2024 for Gehrig Frei, also on April 15.
Will Millard won the third award a couple of weeks ago after his stellar play in the sweep against Eastern Kentucky. This now becomes the first season with multiple ASUN Player of the Week award winners during the Division I era.
In 2024, Frei and then-pitcher turned UNA pitching coach
Jacob James won Player and Pitcher of the Week honors within a week of each other.
This is the eighth ASUN Weekly Award for the team since joining the conference. Under head coach Jad Prachniak's tutelage, this is the third ASUN Player of the Week award during his three-year tenure.
"Dylan was in the middle of some big moments for us," said Prachniak. "His ability to change the game with one swing has shown throughout the season; he was instrumental this weekend in securing a big conference series win."
Coleman transferred to North Alabama from Delta State, a Division II school from Cleveland, Miss. He started 102 games between the two seasons as a Statesmen from 2024-25. He totaled 91 runs during his time at Delta State where he averaged a .379 batting average.
While in Cleveland, he was named an ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-South Region, NCBWA First Team All-South Region, ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-American and NCBWA Honorable Mention All-American.
Coleman and the Lions get back to action on Tuesday, April 7 against UT Martin in Florence, Ala. at Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium beginning at 4 p.m.
