NOTES

TRAILBLAZING TERRY: After the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, former head coach Austin Phillips took a new head coaching opportunity at Old Dominion. In stepped longtime head coach, Matt Terry, after he spent nine seasons at Louisiana Tech and 15 at Troy prior to that. Terry takes over a team that finished fourth at the conference championship in 2024-25 – the highest finish for the program during the Division I era.

ROSTER RECONSTRUCTION: The Lions were senior heavy a season ago as the team sees Sebastian Bengtsson, Xing Luo, Blake Henriques, Corey Maher and Cory Abbott all exit through graduation. Coach Terry welcomes back three members of the 2025-26 squad in sophomores Arthur Estas, Jedd Brady and Luke Davis. Terry brought two freshmen with him in Will Hindemit and Jack Morris, while he honored Caden Clark and Anton Hendelin's commitments. The longtime coach added one transfer in Lucas Latimer from Mary Hardin-Baylor to his new squad.

YOUNG SLINGERS: The Lions enter 2026 with all members of the team being an underclassman. The roster holds four sophomores in Brady, Davis, Estas and Latimer with four freshmen in Clark, Hendelin, Hindemit and Morris. In 2025-26, the Chattanooga Mocs were labeled as the youngest team in NCAA Men's Division I Golf with two freshmen, two sophomores and one junior in their starting lineup. The Mocs won the SoCon Championship for the first time in 13 years and finished third in their respective NCAA Regional before qualifying for the NCAA National Championship field.

LEADER LATIMER: Mary Hardin-Baylor transfer Lucas Latimer is primed to be a key name for the golf team this season. After his first year at UMHB, Latimer shot-under par in six of the 10 tournaments this past season with a low round of 64 (-8) at the Grey Stone Classic in March. Over the 30 rounds played, he averaged a 72.37 score. His freshman season score finished right behind Andre Jacobs (72.21), who recorded the lowest season stroke average in Division I history at UNA in 2022-23.

TRIO TOURNAMENTS: A new staff and new team leads to an overhaul in tournaments for UNA this upcoming season. North Alabama returns to three tournaments that they competed in a year ago in the Cullan Brown Collegiate, The Prestige and the Seminole Intercollegiate. Terry has added a slew of new tournaments that allows the Lions to be well-traveled and face great competition. UNA gets one in-state tournament with the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama in Mobile, Ala. The Lions received an automatic bid to The Prestige, which is one of the most sought-after NCAA tournaments, after a top-10 designation this past season.

FORGE AHEAD:  This season, the Lions have officially forged ahead to the United Athletic Conference as of July 1. UNA will join former ASUN rivals Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky and West Georgia in the UAC. The Lions also join forces with Abilene Christian, UT Arlington and Tarleton State from the Western Athletic Conference and Little Rock from the Ohio Valley Conference.
