ABOUT LAST GAME: North Alabama picked up its first shutout win of the season last Sunday night at Cox Creek Sports Complex against Tennessee Tech. Junior forward
Anna Fugarino earned a brace in the Lions' 2-0 victory over the Golden Eagles and was named United Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Charlotte Sobotka tallied assists for Fugarino's two goals. The Lions' backline was on lockdown as four players clocked in at a full 90 minutes, including
Adelyn Speight, Lily Ford,

Emily Dorfman. This win moves the Lions to 2-0-1 on the season as they look forward to Sunday afternoon.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and Southeast Missouri have only met once before in a 3-0 victory for the Lions last year in Cape Girardeau. In that game, which was almost exactly one year from this game, three Lions netted goals, including graduate student
Alice Bussey, and returning Lions
Alana Owens and
Anna Fugarino. This will be the first meeting in Florence between the Lions and Red Hawks.
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS: The Southeast Missouri Redhawks head to Florence with a 1-1-1 record on the season, most recently coming off a scoreless draw against Missouri State on Thursday evening. Prior, the Redhawks fell 2-0 to the Evansville Aces and found their lone win thus far by beating Southern Illinois 1-0 in the first game of the season. Last season, the Redhawks earned only two wins all season against UT Martin and Western Illinois. Ahead of the 2026 season, Southeast Missouri was predicted to finish sixth out of eight teams in the Ohio Valley Conference, noting two Redhawks named to the OVC Players to Watch List: junior defender Laia Amat and sophomore midfielder Rachel Kretzer.
UAC SWEEP: After a record-breaking Wednesday night performance against the Union Bulldogs and a shutout victory on Sunday night against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, North Alabama swept the United Athletic Conference weekly awards. Fugarino was awarded UAC Player of the Week for her brace against TTU and also held a perfect shot-on-goal percentage at 1.000 through both matchups last week. Smith was awarded UAC Defender of the Week after her 164 minutes between the 6-1 win over Union and the first clean sheet of the year against Tennessee Tech. The junior defender also tallied two assists this week, one in each game. This is the first award for both players in their careers at North Alabama, and the first time that two or more Lions have won conference weekly awards in the same week since 2022.
NEXT GAME: The North Alabama Lions hit the road next week as they travel for a two-game set in California at Cal Baptist on Thursday, Sept.3 at 9 p.m. and UC San Diego on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.
